Health Secretary Francisco Duque III on Monday said eight cities in the National Capital Region (NCR) are showing increase in the number of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases.
“Walong lungsod sa NCR ang nagpapakita din ng pagtaas ng mga kaso,” he said during a meeting with President Duterte. Duque, however, did not identify the said cities.
Aside from the eight cities in NCR, he said, Region 7 and Caraga are also showing an increase.
But overall, Duque said they are seeing a decrease in the number of recorded cases across the country.
“Sa pangkalahatan nakakakita pa din tayo ng pagbaba sa dami ng naitatalang kaso sa buong bansa,” said Duque.
He also revealed that as of Feb. 15, the number of new COVID-19 cases in the country is at 1,685 with the total confirmed cases now at 550,860.
“Out of these, 27,588 are currently admitted or isolated,” he said.
“In terms of recoveries, we have 511,755 cases who have recovered and accounts for 93 percent more or less,” added Duque.
“As to deaths, our case fatality rate is 2.09 percent with 11,517 total deaths,” he said.
Duque said active cases or those asymptomatic, mild or moderate are at 26,043 which is equivalent to about 94.4 percent.
While severe and critical cases, he said, are at 1,545 or at 5.6 percent. (Leslie Ann Aquino)
