Cebuano connection? Ask Mary Joy Tabal and Margielyn Didal about it.
Olympian marathon runner Tabal recently paid a visit to Filipino skateboarding sensation Didal and tried the extreme sport for herself.
“[Us and our energy!] I’m at Margielyn Arda Didal’s playground and I’m taking the ‘risk’ of trying her sports,” wrote Tabal on her Facebook account Wednesday, Feb. 17. “Don’t [worry], on our next meeting, she’ll gonna run also.”
On Instagram Story, it was a “watch and learn” moment for Tabal as she watched Didal’s swift demonstration on how to cross a mini ramp
The 31-year-old Tabal is the first female Filipino marathoner to reach the Olympics after representing the Philippines in the 2016 Rio Olympics.
She also bannered the country in the Southeast Asian Games, bagging two silver medals in the 28th (2015 Singapore) and 30th editions (2019 Philippines) of the biennial meet and one gold medal in the 29th SEA Games (2017 Kuala Lumpur)
Didal, 21, for her part, is expected to represent the Philippines in the 2021 Tokyo Games, where the sport is set to kick off its Olympic debut, should she maintain a good spot in the World Skateboarding Rankings until June 30.
