Rising star Alex Eala continues to rise in the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) Tour singles rankings with a new career-high of No. 763.
Her latest ranking – 140 notches better than her previous ranking – was propelled by her impressive quarterfinals finishes in the third leg of the $15,000 Manacor event in Spain two weeks ago and the $25,000 Grenoble tournament in France a week back.
Eala, 15, was previously ranked No. 903 and was able to earn main draw berths as a junior reserve in Manacor and as a junior exempt in Grenoble.
Her performance in France was more notable as it was only her second time to compete in a $25,000 event since started playing in the pros last year.
A scholar of the Rafa Nadal Academy for the past years, Eala is scheduled to compete in another $25,000 tournament in Manacor on March 1 where she gained a main draw spot as a junior exempt.
Eala said in earlier interviews that she wants to concentrate on competing in the women’s circuit to further sharpen her game against more experienced opponents.
