LAGUNA – Police operatives rescued Monday night a Chinese national who was detained by his compatriot for three days in Barangay San Francisco, Biñan City, police reported yesterday.
Col. Serafin Petalio II, Laguna Police director, said the suspect, identified as Zhang Chen, 25, of 40 Paseo de Manila St., Las Villas de Manila Subdivision, was arrested during the operation.
Police withheld the name of the victim.
Prior to the rescue operation, the Binan City Police Station received a call from a concerned citizen requesting police assistance for a Chinese national who was being illegally detained at the suspect’s residence.
Lt. Col. Giovanni Martinez, Binan City police chief, immediately dispatched the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team at about 11:30 p.m. on Monday for the rescue operation.
The cops arrested the suspect as they found the victim with both hands tied up inside the house.
The victim told police that the suspect detained him for three days, but he got a chance to contact his friends to report his situation to the authorities.
The suspect is detained at the Binan City Police Station while the investigation is ongoing. (Danny Estacio)
