Thirty-four inmates of the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City have been released on Monday after being granted parole, the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) said.
“Gratuity and transportation allowance were provided to the PDL (Persons Deprived of Liberty) while handling their released documents,” the BuCor said in a statement.
Under the leadership of Director General Gerald Q. Bantag, the BuCor said it “continuously carry out its mandate to safekeep and reform our PDL while in our custody until its release.”
The BuCor said the 34 inmates also participated during Monday’s culminating program for released PDLs for March.
“The culminating activity is a ceremony being held to serve as a graceful exit from BuCor and is applicable only for mass release,” it explained.
Aside from the Bilibid, the Davao Prison and Penal Farm (DPPF) also reported that it has released since January a total of 11 PDLs who were granted parole. (Jeffrey Damicog)
