A man wanted for a string of criminal cases and his companion were killed by anti-kidnapping operatives of the Philippine National Police in his lair in Antipolo City on Wednesday night.
Brig. Gen. Jonnel Estomo, director of the Anti-Kidnapping Group (AKG), said they conducted the raid to serve the arrest warrant against Reagan Gelapulango, who was listed as the number one most wanted in Tigbauan, Iloilo.
Gelapulango and his unidentified companion were killed during the operation in his hideout in Blue Mountain in Barangay Sta. Cruz in Antipolo City at around 7 p.m.., according to Estomo.
Estomo said Gepulango was facing numerous cases that include carnapping, attempted homicide, and murder.
Lt. Col. Villaflor Bannawagan, head of the AKG Luzon Field Unit, said the operation stemmed from a tip-off about the presence of Gepulango in Antipolo City.
Police surveillance teams were sent in the area to confirm the report, and as soon as his presence was located, the raid was conducted.
Seized in Gepulango’s house were three handguns and sachet of shabu.
