BACOLOD CITY – Police are investigating the death of a businessman whose body was found inside his parked truck in Bago City, Negros Occidental on Tuesday.
According to the report of Bago City Police Station, the victim, Henie Maalat Sr., 49, of Barangay Mandalagan here, was found unconscious inside his driven pick-up truck parked on the roadside of Purok Valero, Barangay Ma-ao around 3:40 p.m.
Police Maj. John Joel Batusbatusan, Bago City police chief, said residents called for police assistance after they noticed a vehicle parked in the area for more than an hour.
The car’s engine was switched on but it was closed, according to the residents, he added.
A suspected bullet hole was seen on the window at the driver’s side, and it might be an indication that the victim was shot, but Batusbatusan said they will have to wait for the official report of the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO).
Batusbatusan said the victim was on his way home after he delivered fuel for their vehicle and equipment in their quarry site at Barangay Ma-ao, when the incident happened.
Batusbatusan said they have yet to establish the motive behind the killing, adding that they will get information from the victim’s family.
The crime is still under investigation, the police chief added.
