Twenty-four persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) of the Davao Prison and Penal Farm (DPPF) have been released on parole this month.
The DPPF said in a statement the 24 parolees were among the 31 PDLs who were released this month, including two who were acquitted and five who have finished serving their sentences.
The prison facility said this was made in accordance with the directive of Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) Director General Gerald Q. Bantag “for the expeditious release of PDLs in all operating prisons and penal farms.”
“Pursuant to this Memorandum, Regional Superintendent CCSupt. Julie May C. Taguiam signed Certificates of Discharge to 31 PDLs,” the DPFF said.
The DPPF said 19 of the parolees were freed last March 26, while the rest were released on March 24.
“Likewise, to ensure that they are COVID-19 free when they return to their families, the PDLs underwent Rapid Tests conducted by the frontliners of DPPF Health and Medical Services Section headed by CSInsp. Dennis Antonio A. Dacayanana MD,” it added. (Jeffrey Damicog)
