Manila Chooks TM’s Chico Lanete settled for fourth place in the two-point shootout of the FIBA 3×3 World Tour Masters at the Al Gharafa Sports Complex.
Lanete couldn’t sustain his hot-shooting from the qualifying stage after making just seven in the four-team final round behind winner Carius Tarvydas of Sakiai Gulbele, Steve Sir of Edmonton and Dejan Majstorovic of Ub.
Tarvydas won the top purse of $500 (almost P25,000) after making 13 points followed by Sir with 12 and 11 for Majstorovic.
The 41-year-old made a solid impression in his first World Tour Masters appearance which saw him hit a game-winning two-pointer to give Manila a 21-20 overtime win over host Doha in the qualifying draw.
He made it to the final round of the side event after topping the qualifiers with eight points.
Manila missed out on a spot in the main stage of the tournament by splitting its two matches in the qualifiers.
Lanete, Mac Tallo, Zach Huang and Dennis Santos fell 22-17 to Austrian side Graz before bouncing back against Doha.
