Looks like Premier Volleyball League (PVL) fans will have to wait a little longer before they can watch their favorite teams in action.
Organizers are looking at rescheduling the Open Conference to a later date due to the extended enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in Metro Manila and nearby provinces brought by the alarming increase of active COVID-19 cases in the country.
Sports Vision President Ricky Palou said it looked like they may not be able to meet the opening target in May due to the current pandemic situation.
“We’ll meet via zoom with teams this week or next week at the last to discuss the matter,” Palou said.
Team practices have been suspended since the ECQ implementation last March 29 in Metro Manila, Cavite, Laguna and Rizal. At the moment, the ECQ will last until April 11 but it will depend on the situation.
Even national team practices were likewise halted during the ECQ.
Palou did not mention their new target date, but reports said it could be moved to June if the situation improves by then.
The league is originally scheduled to start April 10, but was moved to May 8 to allow teams more time to practice.
There are 12 teams competing in the inaugural conference.
