TACLOBAN CITY – A tornado struck the Daniel Z. Romualdez Airport here at 6:25 p.m. on Monday, damaging its ceilings, tents, roofing, fences, and some vehicles parked in the area.
Reports disclosed that the tornado started at the ramp area of the airport and passed through the pre-departure building.
It also swept across the waiting area, motorcycle parking area, and airport terminal extension before it vanished.
Gilbert Alterado and Merven Bonganay, the guards on duty, said the tornado lasted for about 10 minutes.
No one was reported hurt during the incident.
Airport personnel immediately cleared the area of the debris left by the tornado. (Marie Tonette Marticio)
