A 5.2-magnitude earthquake jolted Davao Occidental Wednesday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
It recorded the earthquake at 4:08 a.m. and traced its origin at 99 kilometers southeast of Jose Abad Santos, Davao Occidental.
Phivolcs’ instruments measured the earthquake at Intensity I in General Santos City and Koronadal City in South Cotabato, and Alabel and Kiamba in Sarangani.
It said the quake has a depth of 102 kilometers.
It was also tectonic in origin, which means the earthquake was caused by the movement of an active fault in the area.
Phivolcs said it was not expecting any damage but aftershocks are likely to occur. (Ellalyn de Vera-Ruiz)
