At least nine people were reportedly hurt after a dump truck manned by a 50-year-old man, who suffered a heart attack while driving, plowed into a group of cash aid beneficiaries outside the city hall of San Jose del Monte, Bulacan, yesterday morning.
Police said Herminio Verona, a city hall employee who was driving the local government-owned dump truck, no longer had pulse after the incident.
Felix Malinao of the city’s Public Order and Safety Office (POSO) said in DZRH interview that around 50 people were waiting outside the city hall supposedly for cash assistance when the truck plowed into them at around 7:15 a.m.
Videos posted on a certain Hi Da Ya’s Facebook page showed residents in panic while checking on at least two people lying beneath the truck.
City Rep. Rida Robes said in the same radio station interview that they are already attending to the victims, including two who are in critical condition.
