John Riel Casimero defeated veteran Cuban boxer Guillermo Rigondeaux to retain his WBO bantamweight belt at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California Sunday, Aug. 15 Manila time.

In a crowd showered with lots of boos, Casimero scored a split decision win 113-115, 116-112, 117-111.

Casimero improved to a 31-4 record with 21 knockouts at hand while Rigondeaux fell to a 20-2 slate with 13 KOS.
