Alex Eala starts her 2022 season by competing in the International Tennis Federation (ITF) women’s circuit slated next week in Manacor, Spain.
The 16-year-old junior standout, however, has to go through the qualifying round of the hardcourt W25 Manacor event set Jan. 17 to 23.
She is currently ranked No. 526 in the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA).
Among the top players in the main draw are Vitalia Diatchenko of Russia, Timea Babos of Hungary, 219-ranked Simona Waltert of Switzerland and Russian Oksana Selekhmeteva.
It can be recalled that Eala teamed up with Selekhmeteva to win the 2021 Roland Garros Girls Doubles title.
Eala last saw action in the women’s circuit in November last year but was beaten right in the first round of the W25 Milovice event in the Czech Republic.
She has yet to follow up her first women’s title in the W15 Manacor event in 2021.
