Former teammates Jason Brickman and Jordan Heading will face each other for the championship of Taiwan’s T1 League after leading their teams to the finals recently.
Brickman and the Kaohsiung Aquas completed a sweep of the Taiwan Beer Herobears while Heading helped the Taichung Wagor Suns defeat the New Taipei CTBC DEA in the deciding third game of their semifinal series.
Kaohsiung and Taichung were scheduled to start their best-of-three title series at presstime.
Brickman and Heading, who both played for Alab Pilipinas in the 2019-20 ASEAN Basketball League, produced impressive performances during their maiden season in the T1 League, one of three professional cage leagues in Taiwan.
Averaging 14.1 points, 5.1 rebounds and 10.2 assists, Brickman played a major role in the Aquas topping the regular season with a 23-7 record.
Kaohsiung prevailed over Taiwan Beer, 114-91, in Game 1 before ending the semifinal series the following match, 99-93.
Heading posted 19.2 points with a 35.6-percent clip from three-point range for the Suns, who were second in the regular season at 20-10.
Taichung drew first blood, 102-96, before New Taipei stayed alive, 118-96, to force a decider. But the Suns bounced back, 80-75, to take Game 3.
