National University repeated over a hapless University of the East side, 25-14, 25-17, 25-15 and barged into the Final Four of the UAAP Season 84 women’s volleyball tournament Tuesday at the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City.
NU had four double-digit scorers in the match with Ivy Lacsina and Alyssa Solomon leading the charge with 13 points each, Princess Robles and Sheena Toring adding 10 each as the Lady Bulldogs remained undefeated in 10 games.
In a show of force, Mhicaela Belen added nine points to help NU hand UE its 10th straight defeat.
Camilla Lamina dished out 18 excellent sets while Jennifer Nierva recorded nine digs and nine receptions in the quick victory which ran for just an hour and 26 minutes.
“Sa team naman, kailangan lang namin gumalaw nang tama,” said Lady Bulldogs head coach Karl Dimaculangan. “Yung execution kasi namin yun yung pina-polish namin e kasi nag pe-prepare na rin kami sa mas ano siguro na game. Kailangan lang namin matuto sa mga previous games namin, tignan kung ano pa yung puwede idagdag at kulang namin.”
Meantime, Ateneo handed University of Santo Tomas a severe beating after scoring a straight-set win, 25-20, 25-20, 25-20.
Faith Nisperos led all scorers with 18 points built on 15 spikes and two service aces while Vannie Gandler and Joan Narit also provided firepower with 12 and 11 markers, respectively, as the Blue Eagles snapped the Golden Tigresses’ four-game win streak and improved to a 5-5 record.
UST star Eya Laure was was limited to 14 points after scoring more than 20 on multiple occasions.
In the second game, Adamson eliminated Far Eastern University with a 25-17, 25-17, 25-16 victory en route to fourth place with a 6-4 record.
Trisha Genesis spearheaded the Lady Falcons’ balanced attack with 14 points powered by 13 kills.
