Kai Sotto resumed his pre-draft workouts with the Sacramento Kings with roughly a week before the NBA draft proceedings on June 23.
After a minor ankle injury which derailed his scheduled workouts with NBA teams, the 7-foot-3 phenom plunged back to action with the Kings on Wednesday, (Thursday, Manila time) along with other NBA aspirants.
Interestingly, Sotto was joined by PBA great Jimmy Alapag, who currently works as an assistant coach to Sacramento’s G-League affiliate team Stockton Kings, during the workout.
Alapag even took to Instagram to wish Sotto good luck while posing for a photo with the former Adelaide 36ers center.
“Great to see Kai here in Sacramento! Best of luck on your journey to the NBA!.The entire country and I are rooting for you!! Keep working,”wrote Alapag.
So far, Sotto has already worked out for the New York Knicks, Chicago Bulls, Cleveland Cavaliers, Atlanta Hawks, and the Orlando Magic.
He is hoping to make history as the first homegrown player to step foot in the NBA and join the likes of Jordan Clarkson and Jalen Green as players with Filipino heritage in the league.
Aside from Sotto, Filipino-Americans Ron Harper Jr. and Remy Martin are also hoping to get their names called in the draft.
