The SMART/MVP Sports Foundation National Taekwondo Team brought home 19 medals, including 2 golds, from two recent tournaments in Chuncheon City, South Korea.
In the Asian Taekwondo Championships on June 22-27, the taekwondo jins managed only five silver and three bronze medals.
But they struck back in the Chuncheon Korea Open Taekwondo Championships held from June 29 to July 5 by winning two gold, three silver and six bronze medals.
The team was headed by Christian Al Dela Cruz, Rani Ann Ortega, Raul Samson, Dindo Simpao, and Paul Romero
The members were Arven Alcantara, Israel Cesar Cantos, Justin Kobe Macario , Rodolfo Reyes, Jr. Joaquin Dominic Tuson, Patrick King Perez, Jeordan Dominguez, Enrico Raphael Mella, Kurt Bryan Barbosa, Laila Delo, Janna Dominique Oliva,  Angelica Joyce Gaw,  Juvenile Faye Crisostomo, Jocel Lyn Ninobla, Laeia Simoune Soria, and Baby Jessica Canabal.
The Filipino jins competed against the best Asian counterparts which included fighters from host Korea, Iran, Chinese-Taipei, Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, Kuwait, Afghanistan, Nepal, Qatar, Pakistan, Malaysia, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Mongolia and Saudi Arabia.
The country’s participation in the two events was supported by the Philippine Sports Commission, Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) and MILO.
