Two maintenance crew died while two others were injured after an elevator collapsed inside a high-rise building in Makati City early yesterday morning.
According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) report, the incident occurred at around 3:46 a.m. at Burgundy Corporation Tower on Gil Puyat Avenue in Barangay Pio Del Pilar, Makati City.
The report said the elevator, which was undergoing repair, dropped from the 38th floor to the 6th floor where the maintenance crew identified as Manuel Linayao and Rey Miguel Gilera were fixing the mechanical hoist at around 2:55 a.m. Two other elevator installers were reportedly hurt in the incident.
The first responders recovered the body of the first victim at 6:44 a.m. The second body was recovered a few hours later.
Police were still investigating the incident as of yesterday afternoon.
