After deleting the suicide video of a co-worker, a desensitized online content moderator fleeing from her troubled past is haunted by a vengeful presence.
This is the premise of the Mikhael Red’s psychological thriller “Deleter” starring Nadine Lustre, Louise delos Reyes and McCoy de Leon as produced by Viva Films.
According to Mikhael, he wrote the story along with his brother Nikolas.
“It is meant to show the ‘the dark side’ of a content moderator’s world,” he said, noting, “(The Philippines) is now known as the content moderation capital of the world.”
He added, “Moderators are often exposed to the filth of society, watching countless videos and images with disturbing and graphic content, which can lead to lasting trauma, as well as psychological and emotional distress.”
And this is what Nadine’s character will go through.
The actress shared why she signed on for the job. Bottom of Form
“Naghahanap talaga ako ng films na nakaka-challenge. It’s something that I always want to do. And this is the first psychological thriller of my career. Kaya sobrang excited ako,” Nadine said.
She likes it that “Deleter” offers a good story.
“Ayaw ko po kasi ‘yung jump scare lang tapos nakakatakot lang,” Nadine explained. “Sobrang na-e-enjoy ko kapag ‘yung pelikula mayroong back story o malalim na kuwento.”
With it being a far cry from past work, Nadine assured, “I think magugustuhan pa rin ng mga fans ng dati kong work itong ‘Deleter’ because it’s something different. Kasi pag paulit-ulit ‘yung genre ng ginagawa mo medyo nakakasawa na, sobrang redundant na rin saka hindi na challenging. So, I’m sure gusto rin nila akong makita in something new and different.”
“But at the end of the day I feel like more than doing it for the fans, I’m doing it for myself. Iba po kasi ‘yung feeling na I guess proud ka sa ginawa mo after mong panoorin ‘yung pelikula,” Nadine added.
