Those eager to watch “Tahan” simply to catch lead star Cloe Barreto naked will not be disappointed.
She did more than just disrobe in the film.
Then again, it isn’t as if “Tahan” is simply about that.
Excellently written by Quinn Carillo, the Vivamax original has great narrative.
And this is the main reason why it succeeds in elevating itself beyond being your run-of-the-mill soft porn.
The plot is intriguing, engaging.
Imagine a mother selling her own daughter to sexually depraved patrons.
Yes, the idea is nothing new but Quinn made it interesting, engaging.
The magnificent Jaclyn Jose plays the mother and effectively so. Much as you will hate her, you could at least understand why she is the way she is.
Cloe is a revelation. That she was able to hold her own in scenes with Jaclyn as with the talented JC Santos is testament to her promise.
She could actually go a long way as actress given more challenging roles.
Of course, it pays to mention the superb work of director Bobby Bonifacio Jr.
He made important scenes look more intense, sharp.
And watch out for the surprise twist at the ending – it is truly gripping.
“Tahan” stream on Vivamax July 22.
