President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has appointed bowling legend Bong Coo as one of the board members of the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC).
The government sports agency reportedly received the appointment papers of Coo, also the president of the Philippine Bowling Federation.
One of the country’s most decorated athletes, Coo is a four-time world champion Filipino bowler and a World Bowling Hall of Famer. She is also a PSC Hall of Fame awardee.
Coo also amassed the most medals and trophies as an athlete in any sports with 37 gold medals from the 78 medals she won in regional and world tournaments.
Recently, Coo was among the notable sports icons who were immortalized with a commemorative stamp by the Philippine Postal Corporation.
Coo, however, would have to wait for the appointments of the remaining Commissioners as well as the PSC chairman to start her duties.
Among those being considered as commissioners are squash president Richard Bachmann and veteran a media practitioner.
At the moment, executive director Atty. Guilliermo Iroy is handling the day-to-day operations of the PSC as officer-in-charge.
