Reigning SEAG champion Johann Chua squeaked past Robbie Capito of Hong Kong, 11-10, and advanced to the semifinals of the APF Asian 9-Ball Open 2022 in Singapore on Saturday, Aug. 27.
In the Final Four, Chua will face the winner between Chinese Taipei’s Ko Pin Yi and Japan’s Masato Yoshioka, who are playing at presstime.
Prior to his quarters victory, Chua edged compatriot Jeff De Luna, 11-8.
Also playing for a spot in the semis are Lauro Bonga and James Aranas, and Anthony Raga against Japan’s Naoyuki Oi.
Bongay reached the quarters with an 11-8 triumph over Hong Kong’s Lo Ho Sum, while Aranas bested Vietnam’s Duong Quoc Hoang, 11-9.
Raga, for his part, clobbered Vietnamese Dang Thanh Kien for the quarters ticket.
Meanwhile, Carlo Biado made a first round exit after bowing to Luong Duc Thien, 11-10.
