The 45th SMART/MVP Sports Foundation National Taekwondo Championships, the country’s biggest biggest taekwondo competition, kicks off on Sept. 3-4 at the Ayala Malls-Manila Bay in Pasay City.
The organizing Philippine Taekwondo Association (PTA) announced that over 2,000 taekwondo jins from 20 different regions, including the BARMM, CAR, CARAGA, and the National Capital Region, are taking part in the two-day event.
Also vying in the event supported by the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) and MILO are members of the national team, Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), including the Philippine National Police (PNP) and major collegiate leagues such as UAAP and NCAA.
The competition features the Advance and Novice categories for men and women with four (4) divisions, namely Senior, Junior, Cadet, and Grade School. The event is an individual competition.
PTA said the tournament will utilize the taekwondo officiating system KPNP as the protector and scoring System (PSS) with IVR (Instant Video Replay) system being used in all PTA tournaments to ensure fairness and eliminate human error.
Martial arts enthusiasts and children interested to learn the sports are invited to witness the event which is set to start at 9 a.m. The Philippine Demonstration Team will perform at 1 p.m.
