It’s now a waiting game between Rain or Shine and coach Yeng Guiao.
It seems like both the fiery mentor and ROS management share the same feeling when it comes to a possible reunion after Guiao was let go of NLEX last Friday, Sept. 2.
But like former lovers waiting for a second chance for their romance, it’s just a matter of who will lower their pride, pick up the phone and call the other.
In an interview with Radyo 5’s Power and Play with Kom Noli Eala on Saturday, Sept. 3, the formex NLEX mentor said he is very much open to the possibility of making a second tour of duty with the Elasto Painters – the same franchise he steered to two championships during his five-year tenure with the team.
“Wala akong problema sa Rain or Shine, galing ako diyan, they’re family to me, but it’s still going to be their decision kung gusto nila ako magbalik or hindi,” said Guiao.
Interestingly, the feeling is mutual and is not a one-sided love affair.
According to multiple sources, the Rain or Shine owners Raymund Yu and Terry Que would love to have the fiery mentor back with the team although it is not too keen on making the first move.
Guiao, for his part, is keeping his lines open in case any interested team reaches out to him but stressed he, likewise, doesn’t want to be making the first move.
“I think when you reach a certain point, ayaw mo na lalapit ka, mag-aapply ka, kakausapin mo… Ganoon lang, I’ll just let it be and see what happens,” he added.
“Siguro unang-una diyan, of course, kung sinong maunang lumapit at kung sinong mayroong magandang i-offer, you have to appreciate that. You have to appreciate yung makita nila yung urgency at nauna silang kumausap sayo, get in touch, of course you have to give them that importance and priority,” he added.
So will there be a comeback between these two? Or will this be just another case of ‘the one that got away’ scenes in movies?
