The Philippine women’s volleyball team will be looking to steal more than just a set from Thailand in their ASEAN Grand Prix opener in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand on Friday, Sept. 9.
After their gallant showing against the Thai team in the Asian Confederation Volleyball Cup for Women last month, the Filipina spikers are hoping to produce positive result.
The squad, composed of the PVL champions Creamline Cool Smashers, flew out of the country on Wednesday afternoon.
After their quarterfinals showdown, Thai team captain and setter Pornpud Guedpard had glowing words for the PH team, saying she was impressed with its gutsy stand.
She went as far as saying that the PH team is “getting better.”
With Risa Sato back in the lineup and Alyssa Valdez on the sidelines, the Filipinas are expected to pull out all the stops to do the unthinkable – upset the Thais on their turf.
