Mary Melanie “Honey” Quiño has been appointed as new Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Deputy Administrator.
Many in showbiz deem this a welcome development.
Quiño is a lawyer and a movie producer.
She owns A&Q Entertainment & Primestream, Inc., A&Q Production Films and AQ Prime.
Among films she has produced include “Nelia,” one of the official entries in the MMFF 2021 starring Winwyn Marquez and Raymond Bagatsing; “Ligalig” directed by Topel Lee starring Nora Aunor, Raymond Bagatsing and Snooky Serna; “Peyri Teyl” directed by Joel Lamangan with Nora Aunor and EA Guzman as lead actors and the film; “Pura Serbidora” directed by Louie Ignacio starring Elizabeth Oropesa and Dolly de Leon.
OWWA Administrator Arnell Ignacio, who also comes from the entertainment industry, is happy to have Quiño onboard.
“I’m so happy to be working with DA Honey. Alam ko na nasa puso niya ang pagtulong sa kapwa wala pa man siya noon sa gobyerno. Naniniwala ako sa kakayahan niya at malaki ang maiaambag niya sa OWWA lalo na at marami siyang mga fresh ideas na maari naming gawing projects sa OWWA,” says Ignacio.
