Chery Tiggo spoiled F2 Logistics’ return with a 25-23, 25-21, 25-22 victory Tuesday, Oct. 11, in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.
The Crossovers took advantage of the short-handed Cargo Movers, who played without import Lindsay Stalzer due to health protocols and veteran libero Dawn Macandili due to an undisclosed injury.
It was the first triumph for Chery Tiggo as it joined Cignal and PLDT Home Fibr in the winner’s circle.
Chery Tiggo fought back from a 23-18 deficit by nailing seven straight points spearheaded by EJ Laure en route to clinching the first-set victory.
Since then, the Crossovers never looked back as they dictated the pace in the next two frames despite the persistent attempts of the Cargo Movers.
In fact, F2 Logistics saved three match points before an attack error from Kim Dy sealed the win in favor of Chery Tiggo.
Jasmine Nabor, who was responsible for most of the points for Chery with her crafty plays, said they wanted to erase the memory of their eighth-place finishes over the last two conferences.
“Yun yung pinanghuhugutan namin tuwing practice kaya gusto naming maging maganda yung performance namin this conference,” said Nabor.
Mylene Paat led the Crossovers with 16 points, all coming from attacks, while Laure chipped in 11 points including 10 kills.
Czarina Carandang and import Jelena Cvijovic added seven and six points, respectively.
Chery Tiggo’s win negated the efforts of Kalei Mau, who pumped in 20 points for F2.
