Director Perci Intalan is out with his newest film, “Mahal Kita, Beksman.”
It tells the story of Dali as portrayed by award-winning actor Christian Bables.
Dali is quite flamboyant. He is fond of wearing colorful clothes.
That he is also a skilled fashion designer and make-up artist had everyone thinking he is gay.
But he is not.
He simply acquired the skills of his parents, Jaime (Keempee de Leon) and Gemma (Katya Santos).
Note Jamie is actually gay. He also runs a salon.
Gemma, on the other hand, manages a dress shop.
When Dali finally revealed his true sexual nature to his parents, they were shocked, Jaime most especially. He wanted his son to be gay just like him.
Complicating things is Angel (Iana Bernardez).
Dali is sure Angel is “the one” for him. But Angel’s family poses a problem. Her father is a sports coach, while her brothers run a gym and a car shop. With all that machismo, will Dali be able to prove that he’s the right man for Angel? Can people actually look past his appearance and see how much he loves Angel?
Perci explains, “We’re hoping the film would open people’s eyes and learn not to judge others based on their appearance. Nangyayari pa rin kasi ngayon ‘yan e, ‘yung stereotyping. So, my hope is that somehow, this film would help put an end to that.”
“As to the actual film, we made it fun lang, lighthearted so to speak, para it would be easier to digest,” he added. “But we made sure na hindi ginawang katatawanan ang pagiging bakla o pagiging mukhang bakla dito.”
From Viva Films, “Mahal Kita, Beksman” opens in cinemas, Nov. 12.
