Creamline bucked a second-set hiccup as it bested Cignal, 25-18, 22-25, 25-22, 25-12, to remain unbeaten in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference at the Sta. Rosa Sports Complex in Laguna.
The Cool Smashers drew strength from Jema Galanza and import Yeliz Basa, who fired 17 and 14 points, respectively, to extend their winning run to three games.
Galanza and Basa also combined for 27 of the team’s 52 kills to survive the HD Spikers’ stifling defense, where they posted 12 blocks off Tai Bierria and Angeli Araneta.
Jia De Guzman continued to dazzle as she continued to orchestrate plays for Creamline, finishing with 25 excellent sets.
Jeanette Panaga fired nine points while Alyssa Valdez and Ced Domingo chipped in eight points each for Creamline, whose victory tied them with Chery Tiggo at the helm.
Cignal, for its part, fell to 1-2 in the middle standings, despite the 20-point production of Bierria.
Earlier, Petro Gazz made short work of Akari, 25-13, 25-14, 25-20.
The Angels were simply overpowering, needing only 70 minutes to pick up their second win in three outings.
Lindsey Vander Weide did most of the damage by uncorking 21 points built on 18 kills and three blocks as Petro Gazz’s victory somehow erased the stigma of their four-set defeat to the Creamline Cool Smashers last Tuesday, Oct. 18.
