Creamline bucked a slow start as it downed Akari, 23-25, 25-15, 25-16, 25-21, to bolster its semifinal bid in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City Thursday, Oct. 27.
The Cool Smashers banked on Yeliz Basa, Ced Domingo and Jema Galanza to extend their winning streak to four games.
Basa scattered 16 of her 18 points on attacks, Domingo chipped in 14 points and Galanza fired 10 kills for 12 points for Creamline as it waxed hot on the attack line.
“Step by step naman yung ginagawa namin. As in one point at a time, hindi lang one game,” said Creamline coach Sherwin Meneses.
“Naging careless kami nung first set. Maraming unforced errors. Pero ang importante naman kung paano kami maka-recover. Two, three, four (set), naging maganda naman yung naging adjustment namin.”
Domingo also conspired with Jeanette Panaga on the defensive end with combined seven blocks to limit the Chargers’s offensive assault headlined by Prisilla Rivera and Erika Raagas.
Rivera and Raagas finished with 13 and 10 points in a losing effort for Akari, which dropped to its fourth loss in five games.
Alyssa Valdez was held to just four points, giving the limelight to the young guns.
