Typhoon Paeng wasn’t able to put a damper on the industry screening of Erik Matti’s “On the Job: The Missing 8.”
The event was star-studded.
In attendance at the screening held Oct. 28 at Cinema 2, Greenbelt 3 in Makati City, was Matti himself along with film stars Dennis Trillo, Lotlot de Leon, Dante Rivero, Ina Feleo.
Guests present include Anne Curtis, Edu Manzano, Pinky Webb, Monsour del Rosario, Pinky Webb, Jane Oineza, RK Bagatsing.
Film directors Carlos Siguion-Reyna and Mac Alejandre were there as well.
When approached by the media at the red carpet, Dennis expressed delight with the film earning raves years after they’ve finished it.
Note the crime thriller, originally released in 2021, was chosen as the country’s official entry to the upcoming 95th Academy Awards or the Oscars.
It is also nominated in the best TV movie or miniseries category at the 50th International Emmy Award to be held in November 21.
Prior, lead star John Arcilla won the Volpi Cup for Best Actor at the 78th Venice International Film Festival.
“Hindi ako makapaniwala kasi matagal na naming nagawa ang proyektong ito pero hanggang ngayon, hindi pa rin natatapos yung recognition,” Dennis said.
“Nagbunga lahat ng mga paghihirap namin,” he added.
“Alam ko na maganda ang pelikula. Hindi ko lang ine-expect na talagang mapapansin ng maraming tao, maging sa mga taga-ibang bansa.”
Dennis described the film as “one of the most important” he has ever done.
As to why people should watch it, he said, “Feeling ko, importante rin na mapanood ito ng mga tao para mamulat sila sa mga bagay na kailangan nila na malaman.”
The sequel to the 2013 film “On the Job,” “The Missing 8” tells the story of a journalist (played by John Arcilla) investigating the mysterious disappearance of his colleagues.
Dennis plays a prisoner hired to carry out assassinations.
