Student councils of both the University of the Philippines and Ateneo de Manila have urged students and their respective communities to wear black when they watch the deciding Game 3 of the Fighting Maroons and Blue Eagles on Monday for the UAAP crown.
Both student councils agreed to voice their displeasure to the revival of mandatory Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC).
The do-or-die game is set at 6 p.m. at the Smart Araneta Coliseum as both schools look to take home the championship title.
The rebranded National Citizens Service Training (NCST) will require students to complete a two-year program following the House bill’s approval on Thursday, Dec. 15.
“As a stand against Mandatory ROTC and Campus Militarization, we urge Ateneo and UP community to wear black on Monday,” the post wrote.
In Game 2 of the best-of-three finals, 20,616 fans were in attendance to witness the latest sequel of the Battle of Katipunan.
The winner-take-all Game 3 is also expected to see the same turnout of supporters from both sides.
