Rain or Shine has tapped the services of Greg Smith II in place of Michael Qualls, the team announced on Wednesday, Feb. 8.
Head coach Yeng Guiao has decided to pull the trigger on the import switch in hopes of turning ROS’ fortunes around after a lackluster start that saw the Elasto Painters drop its first four games in the conference.
Qualls wasn’t playing badly, averaging 26.5 points and 11.5 rebounds but just couldn’t find the blend with his teammates – something that Guiao himself pointed out following the Elasto Painters’ 116-108 loss to the defending champions Barangay Ginebra Gin Kings.
Smith is set to arrive on Thursday and expected to play against Blackwater on Sunday.
The 32-year-old Colorado State product had spent his career playing around the globe with stints in France, Latvia, Argentina, Brazil and in Mexico where averaged 14.31 points and 5.8 rebounds while playing for Correcaminos team. (REYNALD MAGALLON)
