Eumir Marcial is getting stronger and meaner each fight.
The Zamboanga pride showed this by stopping Argentine Ricardo Villalba in the second round to remain undefeated as a pro on Saturday, Feb. 11 (Sunday in Manila) at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.
The Tokyo Olympics bronze medalist went to work early, knocking down Villalba in the opening round with a vicious body shot before sending his opponent twice on the canvas in the second round.
A powerful right hook unleashed by Marcial at 48-second mark ended the one-sided contest.
The win further established Marcial as one of the promising pro fighters to date as he raised his record to 4-0, including two knockouts.
The bout was Marcial’s first eight-rounder but his stamina was hardly tested following his quick and convincing win.
Marcial, 27, has been in the US since last year, and hopefully his swift win would earn him a bigger fight next time.
Villalba, fighting for the first time at 162 pounds, dropped to 20-8-1 including eight KOs.
The bout was part of the undercard of the Rey Vargas vs O’Shaquie Foster fight.
