Fritz Biagtan has watched his friends from the sidelines as they took ONE Championship by storm, and now he’s getting his shot in the world’s largest martial arts organization.
Biagtan will make his long-awaited entry into ONE when he takes on Adamkhonov Nurmuhammad in a three-round flyweight MMA bout at ONE Friday Fights 5 this 17 February inside Lumpinee Boxing Stadium.
“I’m grateful and I feel so blessed that we’re already here on the big stage of MMA. It’s been a very long time,” Biagtan said ahead of his clash in Bangkok, Thailand.
“The wait is worth it.”
While the 27-year-old is known as a Muay Thai practitioner who’s competed in the Thailand circuit, his first love has always been MMA.
Through the all-encompassing sport, he met his fiance in third-ranked atomweight Denice Zamboanga and her brother Drex – and all three have been inseparable ever since.
Biagtan has been a local champion in the Philippines and then joined the Zamboangas in their journey in Thailand, where they spent a considerable amount of time at Marrok Force.
While the Zamboangas were building their names in ONE, Biagtan was keeping himself busy competing in local Muay Thai circuits throughout Thailand. During that stretch, though, he’s never really forgotten about MMA.
“In the time when I was out of the MMA stage, I went back to Muay Thai and kickboxing. During the pandemic, we were in Marrok Force in Thailand, and I had the chance to work with the best. I was working with the Zamboanga siblings and other great MMA fighters and grapplers,” he said.
