With his diligent work ethic and the solid support of our staff, he blossomed into a basketball player. He is an example and an inspiration to all Perpetualites, and we will always be proud of him and his accomplishments.”
Meanwhile, Joseph Thompson, Scottie’s father said that he is thankful for the effort of the Perpetual community for paying tribute to his son through the retirement of his jersey. It was a great honor for their family.
“I remember when Scottie suffered a back injury in his third year with the Altas. I was so worried, even asked him to go home and continue his studies in Digos City. But Scottie refused because he wanted to pursue his dream by playing for the Altas in his 4th year,” the elder Thompson said.
“As a celebrity figure, as a father, I’m very proud of Scottie. but like any other father, I always tell him to be humble and never think that he is on top of the world,” he added.
“Once a Perpetualite, always a Perpetualite. Our doors will always be welcome to Scottie. He has shown us that the Perpetualite values of hard work and faith in God are pathways to success,” said the amiable chairman.
Anton Tamayo also had praises for the former Perpetual Alta player. “Scottie is one of the most exciting players to take to the Philippine Basketball Association hardcourt. He exemplifies the never-say-die attitude of Perpetualites, that no matter the challenges are, a Perpetualite has what it takes to shine.”
