There’s no better way to soothe the pain of a crushing defeat by pulling off a big win.
And that was what the F2 Logistics Cargo Movers did Saturday, Feb. 18, coming through with a thrilling five-set win over Creamline, 23-25, 25-18, 16-25, 25-23, 16-14 in the 2023 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.
Coming off a straight-set beating last Feb. 16, the Cargo Movers handed the Cool Smashers their first loss of the season-opening conference in an extended showdown before some 6,765 fans – most of them went home partially disappointed since they were Creamline supporters.
Myla Pablo delivered the goods for the Cargo Movers with 27 points off 22 attacks and five blocks to help the team improve 3-1 in the standings.
Aby Maraño and Kianna Dy contributed 14 and 11 points, respectively.
Tied at 10-all in the final set after Pablo’s single block on Michele Gumabao, F2 Logistics would go on to commit a costly attack error, allowing Tots Carlos to score back-to-back points, 13-11.
Both teams exchanged an error each in the following two sequences, putting Creamline at match point.
Still, the Cargo Movers refused to be cowed, delivering the coup de grace – a mighty 4-0 run – to complete their comeback.
“Well, I’m very proud of the team. It feels like ayaw talaga nila ibigay iyong laban which is how it should be against all teams. [Also] why I’m very happy with this win. Hopefully madala namin siya to the next few games ,” said F2 Logistics coach Regine Diego.
Four Creamline players scored in double-figures, with Carlos pacing the team with a 21-point outing, but their efforts went down to drain.
