Enchong Dee is playing the role of a transgender woman for the first time in “Here Comes the Groom.”
Apparently, he wants people to perceive him in a new light.
“Sa taong ito, I want to surprise my audience,” he said. “I want to do something new for them. I want them to look at me as an actor and not someone who’s holding on sa past.”
He wasn’t clear as to what that “past” is exactly saying simply, “Sigurado po ako na alam n’yo kung ano ang nangyari sa past.”
Okay.
Whatever the case maybe, Enchong has proven himself quite capable doing something offbeat in “Here Comes The Groom.”
Many, in fact, are already predicting he is going to win best actor for his excellent performance in the film.
Enchong is not too keen.
“Well if it comes, it comes,” he said. “Sabi ko nga, it’s more than enough na blessing na may trabaho ka. Bonus na lang yun kung sakali.”
Enchong was quick to acknowledge the help of co-star Kaladkaren for his whimsical portrayal in “Here Comes The Groom.”
He said, “Kaladkaren was quite generous to me. Siya ang nag-guide talaga sa akin kung paano ko gagawin mga eksena ko.”
In the film directed by Chris Martinez, KaladKaren and Enchong’s characters will accidentally swap personalities following a vehicular mishap.
The movie opens April 8.
