The Philippine indoor and beach volleyball teams are set to undergo training camps abroad in preparation for the 32nd Southeast Asian Games in Cambodia next month.
The men’s indoor squad already left for Japan this weekend for their scheduled training until April 23, while the women’s indoor crew will depart Wednesday for a two-week training.
The beach volleyball teams will head to Brazil for their training camp starting April 13 to 28.
The SEAG indoor volleyball competitions will be on May 3 at the Indoor Main Hall, Olympic Complex while beach volleyball will be held on May 11 at the Sihanoukville, Otres Beach.
The men’s and women’s indoor volleyball teams hope to make it to the podium this time after finishing fifth and fourth, respectively, in the previous edition held in Vietnam last year.
The men’s and women’s beach volleyball squads, meanwhile, seek to sustain or surpass their respective bronze medal finishes the last time.
The women’s indoor team is drawn in Pool B along with host Cambodia, Singapore and 2021 Games silver medalist Vietnam, while organizers are expected to repeat the draw in the men’s side after the country was inadvertently overlooked during the submission deadline in February that excluded the team in the initial draw last week.
Alyssa Valdez and Vince Mangulabnan are named as team captains of the women’s and men’s indoor squad.
