Former Quezon City councilor and leading sports advocate Mayen Juico and NorthPort Batang Pier coach Bonnie Tan will be the special guests during the opening of the E. Rodriguez Jr. High School Alumni Sports Club basketball and volleyball tournaments on Sunday, April 16 at the Barangay N.S. Amoranto covered court in La Loma, Quezon City.
Juico, who will represent incumbent Councilor Joseph Juico, and Tan will deliver the inspirational remarks and make the ceremonial toss during the 9 a.m. opening ceremony.
They will be joined by former ERJHS Alumni Association President Jess Asistin of Batch 76 and Police Lt. Col. Mike Gomez of Batch 88, two of the outstanding alumni of the school Barangay N. S. Amoranto chairman Ato de Guzman of Batch 81 and ERJHS Alumni Sports Club President Ed Andaya of Batch 81 will make the welcome remarks ERJHS ASC vice-president Imee Gines of Batch 82 will present the trophy to the winner of the Best Muse contest, while ASC adviser Zeny Castor of Batch 72 will declare the tournament open.
Oliric Lacsamana of Batch 2000 will lead the oath of sportsmanship. Select ERJHS students under Dante Ballesteros will perform the intermission number. Ramon Ypil of Batch 84 and Jesse Nell of Batch 85 are the masters of the ceremonies.
Tournament director is Albert Andaya while Jo Aldana and Richard Nell are heads of the technical committee. The month-long tournament is also supported by Wang’s Ballclub, headed by businessman-sportsman Alex Wang; Brgy Paang Bundok, led by Chairman Lawrence Tiglao, and William “Maca” Chua of Ping Ping Lechon.
