Defending champion National University looks to inch closer to a Final Four berth when it clashes with the winless University of the East in the second round of the UAAP Season 85 women’s volleyball tournament on Saturday, April 22, at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
The Lady Bulldogs (8-3), who strengthened their bid for the No. 2 spot following a sweep of the Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws, meet with the Lady Warriors (0-11) at 2 p.m.
Meanwhile, Adamson (8-4), which is coming off a painful five-set loss at the hands of La Salle, seeks to vent its ire on University of the Philippines (1-10) when they tussle at 12 noon.
With the top seed De La Salle already through and armed with a twice-to-beat in the semifinals, NU eyes to secure the remaining bonus.
Behind the Lady Bulldogs are the lurking University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses, who set on the same target with a similar 8-3 card.
The Lady Falcons were sent reeling to No. 4 in the standings as they loosened their grip on the remaining incentive going into the playoffs.
Adamson’s reliable duo in Kate Santiago and Trisha Tubu, though, will lead the charge to help the Lady Falcons bounce back from the tough loss.
The Fighting Maroons, for their part, hope to wrap up their elimination round campaign on a bright note.
