In line with its goal to energize Filipinos into becoming an ‘ACTIVE PILIPINAS’ through sports, MILO is joining hands with Malay Federated Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) for its #NotAlone Beach Fun Run for Mental Wellness.
The much-awaited partnership will be held on Saturday, April 29, at the White Beach of Boracay Island with hopes of raising awareness about the importance of an active physical lifestyle in maintaining good mental health and well-being.
The event, which is expected to gather 14,000 students, families, and teachers of 16 public and 16 private schools in the district of Malay, is expected to raise funds for workshops and conferences that Malay Federated PTA aims to host for students, parents, and teachers this year.
Born out of the concern for the rising number of students attempting suicide, the workshops and conferences will help equip them with the skills and tools to deal with or address mental health issues and challenges.
“Exercise has been shown to reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety, and can help improve your mood and overall well-being. Personally, running has been very instrumental in helping me overcome my depression. With brands like MILO®, we urge everyone, not only the Aklanons, to stand up and get moving for a healthy and happy lifestyle,” said Miriam Quiambao-Roberto, former beauty queen and president of the Malay General Federated PTA.
By supporting the #NotAlone Run, MILO® continues its ACTIVE PILIPINAS campaign of getting kids from couch to court, addressing the problem of 84% of Filipino adolescents having insufficient physical activity.
“More than just medals and trophies, we know that sports give children values that they can take with them until they grow older, but even more than that, events like this #NotAlone Fun Run show us the important role that sports play in helping maintain one’s mental health. We’re honored to be part of this purposeful event which has been a great opportunity to energize more of our kababayans in Aklan to get started on their active journeys” saidCarlo Sampan, head of MILO® Sports.
Registration is still open for its 1K, 3K, 5K, and 10K run categories starting at P799 for students and P899 for adults.
