Defending champion National University and University of Santo Tomas dispute the No. 2 spot and the second twice-to-beat advantage Wednesday, April 26, in the UAAP Season 85 women’s volleyball tournament at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City.
The Lady Bulldogs and the Golden Tigresses clash at 11 a.m. with the winner assuring themselves of the second incentive in the Final Four. Idle La Salle already clinched the top spot and the first bonus with a league-leading mark of 12-1.
Both teams are tied for second and third places with similar 9-3 records going into the last three playing dates of the double-round elims.
UST ended NU’s remarkable 20-game winning run with a 5-set win the first time they clashed last March 4.
Though both teams are coming off big wins, the Tigresses will go into the game fully motivated to do the encore.
Reigning MVP Bella Belen and Alyssa Solomon need to stay focused and aggressive if they are to get back at the Tigresses.
After NU, UST will have University of the Philippines as its last assignment while NU goes up against Ateneo.
Meanwhile, UP (1-11) eyes to repeat over the still winless University of the East (0-12) when they meet at 3 p.m.
