The first leg of the Metropolitan Chess Center (MCC) Standard Open Training Games kicks off at 10 a.m. today, April 29, at the G/F of Starmall Edsa Shaw in Mandaluyong City.
At stake in the two-day non-rated event is a total pot of P30,000 with the champion pocketing the top purse of P7,000. Cash prizes are broken down to 10 places.
Also, up for grabs are trophies and medals, courtesy of the supporting Milo, the No. 1 energy drink in the country.
Open to all chess enthusiasts, regardless of ages and sexes, the competition offers playing with more time to help players, especially those starting up, to practice and refine their mental processes required during analysis.
This event shall apply the seven-round Swiss System with time control of 40 minutes + two seconds’ increment.
The first round of the competition will exactly start at 10:10 a.m.
