University of Perpetual Help is out to regain its lost glory when the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Season 98 Cheerleading Competition is held this Sunday, April 30, at the historic Rizal Memorial Coliseum in Vito Cruz , Manila.
The 9-time champion of the country’s oldest collegiate league has prepared long and hard for the return of one of the popular events of the season.
Cheerleading competition was shelved the past three years due to Covid pandemic and Altas Perpsquad coach Ruf Rosario is thrilled with the return of the event.
For one, Rosario is ready to showcase his 13 rookies – all of them went through rigorous training to perfect their routines, including some jaw-dropping stunts.
He added that that they also spent extended hours to polish their “gymnastics” and tosses which he believes are their strength.
“We prepared our rookies after the pandemic, marami ang ang-quit, marami ring ang lumipat ng school, kaya grabe ang training namin in preparation on this competition,” said Rosario.
“In terms of skills, we are lucky to have coach Winmar Agdon from CCP Bobcats before and assistant coaches Mhel Tayo and Nelson de Ocampo Jr.,” he added.
