There are relationships that are just not meant to last.
But it doesn’t stop people from keeping at it, ignoring all the red flags in an effort to make it work.
So when do you call it quits exactly?
This is the dilemma faced by Chris and Joey in Viva Films’ “Will You Be My Ex?”
Starring Julia Barretto and Diego Loyzaga as Chris and Joey, respectively, “Will You Be My Ex?”, a Studio Viva and Firestarters production, is a must for lovers said director Real Florido.
“I think many of them will be able to relate to the story’s main characters,” he said. “The best thing about it is that it allows much-needed insight relating to the complications of letting go.”
Julia said, “Ako personally, I learned a lot working on this film. Yung dating Julia kasi hirap mag ‘let go.’ Dito, I learned how important it is to have the courage to just walk away from something that you know, deep inside, is not working anymore.”
In the film, Chris and Joey are college sweethearts.
Chris is a carefree girl from a family of artists.
Joey is the quiet type.
Chris is impulsive.
Joey, being a responsible guy, allows her stability.
Unfortunately, they would ultimately breakup.
Their paths will cross again years after.
Both are already committed to another, but they just couldn’t resist the urge to be with each other again.
But can exes truly be friends?
Also starring in the film as Joey’s girlfriend Yanna is Bea Binene.
“I love and hate my character at the same time,” said Bea. “I love it that she’s very understanding and patient but I hate it that she’s willing to suffer so much for love.”
“Will You Be My Ex?” is Julia and Diego’s first project together after ten years.
It opens in cinemas June 21.
