Chikan.
It’s a popular Japanese porn trope where men grope women while inside a crowded bus or train.
This is the inspiration for “Tayuan” as directed by Topel Lee.
He told us recently, “Well the idea was inspired by that pero the challenge for me as a director is to make it compelling enough for viewers to sit through.”
He made clear, “Ang ‘Tayuan’ hindi siya sexy film lang. I think mas lamang dito yung love angle, yung romance.”
Its star, Angeli Khang, insists otherwise.
Asked to compare ‘Tayuan’ to past outings, she said, “I think hinigitan po nito yung mga nagawa ko noon. Maraming eksena rito na first time ko lang nagawa sa pelikula and I think kaabang-abang siya.”
And here we thought Vivamax has gone soft.
Anyway, “Tayuan” tells the story of Ella (Angeli ), a woman who knows exactly what she wants and gets it.
These include men.
She doesn’t really ride the bus but she was forced to one day, allowing for a meeting with bus conductor Rico (Chester Grecia).
Sparks flew the minute their body touched.
None too soon, Ella is crazy in love with Rico.
She doesn’t care that he has a wife and daughter.
Rico, on the other hand, used to be a ladies’ man.
But since becoming a father he has vowed to stay clean.
Until Ella ultimately makes him give in.
What will happen to both?
Also starring Stephanie Raz, Rash Flores, Francine Garcia, PJ Rosario, Anthony Dabao, Dianne Moldez, “Tayuan” premieres on Vivamax, June 23.
