Marikina head coach Elvis Tolentino could be facing possible suspension as the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League looks into his altercation with one of his players during their game against Pasig City on Tuesday, June 27.
Tolentino found himself in hot water after being caught by cameras hitting his point guard Felipe Chavez to the chest and pulling his jersey – a scene that easily made rounds and got heavily criticized in social media.
The incident happened with 14.7 seconds remaining in the game with the Tolentino’s Shoemasters trailing Pasig City MCS Sports, 66-71.
Chavez committed a crucial turnover which drew the ire of Tolentino who was also seen shouting at his player during the timeout.
The incident also happened with representatives of Games and Amusement Board in attendance. What happened also didn’t sit well to the friends and family of Chave with her mother expressing her displeasure of the incident.
“Not a good sight,” one PBA great commented about the incident, especially with Tolentino also holding a position as councilor in Marikina City.
As if it was enough, Tolentino also got into heated altercation with Pasig coach Boyet Fernandez after the latter refused to handshake with him at the end of the game.
